Grade 4 A fourth grade classroom nearly bursts with excitement. Students move from "learning to read" to "reading to learn". Students learn by connecting new knowledge to prior knowledge. Visuals and hands-on manipulatives provide ways for all learners to make those connections. Previously learned skills now have to be taken to the next level. In addition, students begin to work more independently. Students must learn to manage their time and plan ahead. Social relationships are very important to fourth graders and they spend a lot of time working on their interpersonal and communication skills. A fourth grade classroom is a great place to be!
